Letterbooks and ledger of Anthony Morris, 1787-1806.

Morris's letterbooks (1787-1800) are mostly concerned with his business affairs, including mercantile pursuits, the management of his estates near Philadelphia, and the administration, development and sale of lands throughout Pennsylvania, including the construction of mills. His ledger (1800-1806) includes household accounts and records of expenses of voyages to China, India and England.

Lawyer and merchant of Philadelphia. Morris was prominent in the East India trade. In 1793-94 he was speaker of the Pennsylania Senate.
